Succession Planning Sessions
Prepare the handover before urgency makes every conversation defensive.
Overview
Succession Planning Sessions help family firms map who is ready to lead, what skills need development, and what timeline the business can support. James Kuo facilitates these workshops, drawing on his experience managing operations through a generational transition.
Typical topics covered
- Successor identification and readiness assessment
- Development plans for next-generation leaders
- Non-family senior manager retention during transitions
- Dividend and compensation expectations across generations
- Communication plan for staff and key clients
Format
Sessions run as half-day (4 hours) or full-day (7 hours) workshops. Most engagements include two to three sessions spaced two to four weeks apart, allowing homework between meetings. A written summary follows each session.
Suitable for
Families where a leadership change is planned within 1–3 years, or where the senior generation is ready to discuss stepping back but unsure how to structure the conversation.
