Operational Coaching

Support for the family member who just became a manager — and is still a son, daughter, or cousin at dinner.

Operational Coaching

Overview

Operational Coaching addresses the gap between family identity and management responsibility. Many next-generation leaders are technically capable but struggle with delegation, difficult conversations with long-tenured staff, or setting boundaries with parents who remain involved in daily decisions.

What coaching covers

  • Delegation and accountability structures
  • Running effective team meetings
  • Performance conversations with non-family managers
  • Separating owner decisions from manager decisions
  • Building credibility with staff who knew you as a child

Engagement structure

Coaching runs monthly over a minimum six-month period. Each session is 90 minutes, preceded by a brief written check-in. Between sessions, coachees may shadow operations or complete agreed assignments. A mid-engagement review with the sponsoring family member (with the coachee’s consent) ensures alignment.

Not included

Executive search, organisational restructuring projects, or therapy for family conflict. We refer to specialists when those needs arise.
